A weak front lies across the lower North Island today bringing cloudy areas and the odd shower, mainly about Wellington this morning and Taranaki for much of the day. Isolated showers spring up elsewhere later this afternoon about inland North Island areas, some will turn heavy in the northeast with thunderstorms. Fairly settled over the South Island, isolated showers may develop over inland parts of Canterbury and Otago late afternoon.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny with a few clouds about, light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Some
morning high cloud clears away from Auckland but may hang around Northland
however.

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of
Plenty

Morning high cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, light winds and afternoon
sea breezes about the Bay Of Plenty. Chance of a late afternoon and evening
isolated shower, especially inland with possiblethunderstorms.
Highs: 23-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, light winds and afternoon sea
breezes. Late afternoon and evening showers, mainly inland about the
ranges with possibly heavy downpours and thunderstorms then drifting east towards the coast, clearing at night.
Highs: 24-25

Western North Island

Cloudy spells with northerly breezes, sunny breaks develop after midday with winds tending westerly south
of Taranaki. A few isolated showers possible late afternoon and evening inland.
Taranki may experience cloudy spells for much of the day with the odd shower.
Highs: 20-24

Wellington

Morning showers then sunny spells in the afternoon. Brisk to strong
northerlies ease later in the evening.
Highs: 19-20

Nelson

Morning showers clear to a mostly sunny day, northerly breezes
Highs: 22-23

Marlborough

Any early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny with northwesterlies
easing. In the evening a few isolated showers may develop then clearing at
night.
Highs: 26-27

Canterbury

Morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, southerly breezes tend easterly
in the afternoon. Risk of a late afternoon and evening shower mainly
inland.
Highs: 22-23

West Coast

Morning showers clear with sunny spells increasing, west to southwest
breezes. Mostly sunny in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-20

Coastal Otago

Becoming sunny in the morning with light southerlies dying out. Afternoon
easterlies with a few clouds, late afternoon and evening there may be an
isolated shower or two especially just inland.
Highs: 18-19

Central Otago

Any early showers clearing then mostly sunny with west to northwest
breezes.
High: 19-22

Southland

Any early showers clearing, sunny areas then increase with northwesterlies.
Winds freshen from the west in the afternoon bringing some cloud and the chance
of a further shower. Westerlies ease later in the evening.
High: 18
