High pressure covers much of New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, there is plenty of cloud about the east coast of the South Island however. Isolated showers pop up afternoon and evening about inland parts of the upper South Island and also some inland North Island areas. An increases ease to southeasterly airflow for Northland brings cloudy periods.
Northland
Cloud increasing from morning with brisk southeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-22
Auckland
Sunny spells with easterly breezes, cloud increases in the evening.
Highs: 23-24
Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Mostly sunny with easterly breezes, cloud a little more frequent about the Bay Of Plenty. About southern parts of the Central North Island, isolated showers may develop in the afternoon then clearing evening.
Highs: 22-23
Eastern North Island
Southerlies freshen in the morning about Wairarapa bringing cloudy areas and the chance of a shower. Sunny spells further north with northeasterlies for much of the day about Gisborne, southerlies develop late morning about Hawkes Bay however only bring some cloud. Isolated showers are possible about the ranges of Hawkes Bay in the afternoon then clearing evening.

Western North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, afternoon and evening isolated showers develop inland then clear before midnight. Some showers may be heavy and contain thunderstorms.

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with the odd morning shower clearing, chance of a late afternoon or evening sunny spells. Southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 17-18
Nelson
Cloudy periods with east to northeast breezes. Chance of the odd shower, mainly afternoon.
Highs: 19-20
Marlborough
Cloudy areas with east to southeast breezes. Chance of brief shower at times, mainly inland in the afternoon then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 18-20
Canterbury
Morning drizzle clears. Fairly cloudy for much of the day however there may be a few sunny spells late afternoon for a time, especially inland.
High: 16
West Coast
Any early drizzle clears with sunny spells then developing, light winds. Afternoon isolated showers possible about Buller then clearing in the evening.
Highs: 18-20
Coastal Otago
Cloudy periods with northeasterly breezes developing in the morning, afternoon sunny spells. Chance of an overnight drizzle patch.
Highs: 14-15
Southland & Central Otago
Early cloudy breaks to sunny spells, light winds tend south to southwesterly in the afternoon. Warmest temperatures inland.
Highs: 14-22
