A northerly airflow develops over the South Island today while a ridge keeps over the North Island. Fairly settled for most of the country although a front moves onto the lower South Island around midnight, this brings developing high cloud in the east and rain later in the west.
Auckland & Northland
Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes. West to southwest winds push right through to eastern coastlines in the evening.

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Mostly sunny with light winds tending westerly by midday, about the Bay Of Plenty expect northerlies in the afternoon then easing evening.

Eastern North Island
Morning cloud then increasing afternoon sunny spells, light winds at first then east to northeast breezes from midday.
Highs: 18-20
Western North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds then west to southwest breezes from midday.
Highs: 19-20
Wellington
Sunny with some cloud about, increasing in the evening. Northerly winds become brisk in the afternoon.
High: 17
Nelson
Mostly sunny with northerly breezes.
High: 19
Marlborough
Mostly sunny with northerlies, picking up in the afternoon. There may be a few whiffs of high cloud about.
High: 23
Canterbury
Sunny with some high cloud, easterly breezes near the coast with winds tending northwest inland. Northwesterlies push through to the coast later in the evening however they may only arrive as a light breeze.

West Coast
Cloudy periods, rain develops about Fiordland later this afternoon then further north overnight. Northeasterly breezes.

Coastal Otago
Sunny with increasing high cloud, east to northeast breezes.
Highs: 16-17
Central Otago
Sunny with some high cloud, thickening gradually during the afternoon. North to northwest breezes. A few spots of rain possible overnight.
Highs: 20-23
Southland
High cloud with northerly breezes, sunny spells at times too. A few spots of rain develop later in the evening.
Highs: 20-21
