Another anticyclone pushes onto the South Island today, sunny in the west with cloud gradually clearing away from the east. A south to southeasterly airflow develops over the North Island, cloudy in Wellington and on the east coast with the chance of a shower, sunnier conditions out west.

Upper North Island

Mostly sunny weather with a few clouds about. Light southeasterlies, sea breezes north of Auckland. In Gisborne expect cold southerlies and cloudy skies, showers at times too.
HIGHS: 24-28, 21 in Gisborne

Lower North Island

Sunny with some cloud out west tomorrow, breezy southeasterlies strong about southern Taranaki. Mostly cloudy for Wellington with strong southerlies possibly gusting to gale force at times then easing in the evening, chance of a morning shower there too. Cloudy weather can be expected for Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay with cold southerlies, even the chance of the odd shower.

Upper South Island

Clear and sunny on the West Coast, sunny in Nelson too after any morning cloud clears however expect southeasterly breezes there. Mostly cloudy in Marlborough with the chance of a morning shower, a few sunny areas may appear later in the afternoon with gusty southerlies. Cloudy in Canterbury in the morning however the odd sunny break into the afternoon, cool southerly breezes ease in the evening.

Lower South Island

Clear and sunny skies with light winds. Chance of a light frost morning and again overnight mainly in inland areas.
HIGHS: 16-21

Warmest – Waikato and Auckland

Windiest – Wellington

Sunniest – West Coast of the South Island

Wettest – East Coast of the North Island north of Hawkes Bay
