A weak front lies over the North Island today and may bring a few showers between Auckland and Taranaki for a time in the west, mid afternoon isolated showers look likely in the northeast around Bay Of Plenty through to northern Hawkes Bay. The South Island is looking fairly settled, showers on the West Coast clear from most areas around midday becoming restricted to Fiordland.

Upper North Island

Northwest breezes with cloudy and sunny areas, winds tend southwest in the afternoon where there is the chance of a shower about Auckland and western Waikato however things may remain fairly dry. Mid afternoon about eastern Waikato, Bay Of Plenty and the ranges of Gisborne isolated showers will develop a few of which could be heavy then clearing at night.
HIGHS: 26-28, low 30’s in Gisborne

Lower North Island

Any morning showers clear in the west with sunny areas then increasing, west to southwest breezes. Sunny in Wellington with northerly breezes. Light winds about Wairarapa with mostly sunny skies, some morning high cloud may clear. Light winds about Hawkes Bay with sunny areas and some cloud, isolated showers develop about northern Hawkes Bay in the afternoon especially about the ranges where one or two showers could be heavy then clearing at night.
HIGHS: 22-24 in the West, 27-30 in the east

Upper South Island

Morning showers clear on the West Coast with sunny breaks in the afternoon, westerly breezes. Sunny in Nelson with light winds, afternoon sea breezes. Sunny in Canterbury and Marlborough with northeasterlies developing in the afternoon especially near the coast, winds may tend southwest at first in the morning about Canterbury.
HIGHS: 18-19 on the West Coast. 23 for Nelson, 24-27 in Canterbury and Marlborough

Lower South Island

Showers south of about Haast on the West Coast, west to northwest breezes. Mostly sunny with some cloud elsewhere, westerly breezes inland and about the Southland coast, northeasterlies right on the coastline in eastern regions.
