An anticyclone brings mostly settled weather today however westerlies in the far south will bring a few showers to Fiordland and South Westland. Southwesterly breezes may be a little brisk about western coastlines from Taranaki through to Northland.

Upper North Island

A mix of sunny areas and some cloud today with breezy southwesterly winds. About Bay Of Plenty expect lighter winds and warmer temperatures. Showers in Gisborne clear around midday with a few sunny breaks possible from afternoon, cool southerlies.
HIGHS: 22-23, mid 20’s about Bay Of Plenty. 20 in Gisborne.

Lower North Island

A mix of sunny areas and some cloud with south to southwest breezes, the odd shower possible on the east coast towards evening.
HIGHS: 19-21

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny weather with light winds, northeasterlies develop along the east coast in the afternoon. On the West Coast there may be the odd shower at times otherwise expect mostly dry weather with areas of cloud, west to southwest breezes there.
HIGHS: 17-18 on the West Coast. 21 for Nelson, 20-23 in Canterbury and Marlborough

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny weather with light winds, morning showers about Southland clear with sunny areas then increasing. Northeasterlies freshen up along the east coast in the afternoon. About Fiordland cloudy skies are expected with west to northwest breezes and showers.
