A large anticyclone is centered to the east of New Zealand today with an easterly quarter airflow moving around this high flowing over both Islands.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny. Some cloud at times for Coromandel, Great Barrier Island and eastern Northland may bring a shower at times. East to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny with east to southeast winds, southwesterlies from afternoon about northern Taranaki.
Highs: 18-24

Eastern North Island

A mostly cloudy day with the odd light shower or drizzle patch at times for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, Hawkes Bay dries out in the evening. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-20

Wellington

Mostly sunny, light east to southeasterly winds.
High: 20

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, some morning cloud about Marlborough clears away. Afternoon easterlies for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 18-21

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, east to northeasterly winds freshen.
Highs: 19-22

West Coast

Some mid level cloud builds about Fiordland in the afternoon. Mostly sunny for South Westland with developing high cloud, North Westland has a sunny day with evening high cloud. Light winds.

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds. Northeasterlies freshen up about coastal Otago in the afternoon.
