A cold southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers, heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunderstorms, more so from afternoon. Conditions about the Bay Of Plenty will be less intense with a greater chance of sun and lesser chance of showers, still….a few will pass over from the west at times more so from afternoon. Fresh west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain, easing in the evening to showers. Cold southwesterly winds.
Highs: 8-13

Eastern North Island
Rain, possibly heavy then easing to showers from afternoon. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington
Morning rain with heavy falls possible then easing to showers, strong southerlies.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning rain eases to showers, clearing late evening or overnight. Cold southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury
Showers with fresh cold southwesterly winds. Snow flurries to 600m, a few flurries may make it down to 400m later in the day but amounts will be minimal and taper off. Showers clearing overnight.
Highs: 8-9

West Coast
Mostly sunny about South Westland, North Westland has morning showers clear then expect high cloud. Winds from the south. A few showers may linger about Buller through till evening.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago
Showers, easing from afternoon. Snow flurries to 500m, a few may make it down to 300m by the end of the day but amounts will be minimal. Cold south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 9-10
