An increasing northerly airflow lies over New Zealand today, this flow is coming in between a large high out to the east and a large low in the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning showers clear then sunny areas increase, northwesterly winds change westerly after midday.
Highs: 20-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Early rain eases to the odd shower and sunny spells, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island
Early rain clears then sunny with northwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-24

Wellington
A mix of sun and cloud, breezy northwesterly winds ease in the evening.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with northwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-22

Canterbury
Sunny, light afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

West Coast
Cloudy areas, there may be a shower or two at times. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, some high cloud from afternoon. West to northwesterly winds.
