A large high pressure system lies to the east of New Zealand today, slowly pushing a humid northeasterly airflow over the country.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, may be an isolated shower mainly late afternoon / evening. Showers possibly become heavy about the Waikato and Northland with thunderstorms then easing later in the evening. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a few showers, some may become heavy in the afternoon about inland areas then clearing later in the evening. Winds are light and variable.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with a few showers, becoming heavy in the afternoon with possible thunder (mainly about the ranges) then easing in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, a few showers in the afternoon mainly about inland areas. Southeasterly winds.
High: 20

Marlborough & Nelson
A cloudy morning with a few showers possible, drying out about coastal parts in the afternoon however inland showers may become a bit beefier with some thunder before clearing later in the evening. Light winds then afternoon north to northeast winds.
Highs: 18-21

Canterbury
Risk of a morning drizzle patch then sun breaks through in the afternoon near the coast. Isolated showers develop inland about the foothills during the afternoon, some may become heavy with some thunder then clearing later in the evening. Light winds tend east to northeast by midday.
Highs: 18-20

West Coast
Morning cloud breaks to some sun, winds are light. Late afternoon / evening there may be a few isolated showers especially about the ranges where some could be heavy then clearing later on.
Highs: 20-24

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny for Southland. Central Otago sees early cloud break to some sun then during the afternoon few isolated showers develop, some may become heavy then clearing in the evening. Light winds tend south to southwest in the afternoon. Coastal Otago has a mostly sunny day after morning cloud clears, winds tend northeast.
