A front breaks up over the North Island today as it moves northwards, antityclonic conditions building elsewhere otherwise.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Early showers clear then sunny areas increase, Northland may see the odd shower hang around till evening. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 20-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Any early showers clear then sunny spells gradually increase, southeasterly winds for most however tending westerly in the afternoon about northern Taranaki.
Highs: 16-18

Eastern North Island
Early rain eases to showers, long dry spells developing from afternoon however remaining mostly cloudy. Southerlies tend east to northeast by evening.
Highs: 15-17

Wellington
Early showers clear then sunny spells increase, south to southeasterly winds ease.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Cloud breaks to some sun in the afternoon, east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury
Cloudy areas and occasional sun, northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast
A mix of sun and cloud, cloudier skies about Buller with a shower or two. Light winds tend westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

Southland & Otago
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of an isolated shower about inland areas late afternoon / evening otherwise mainly dry. Coastal Otago sees slightly cloudier skies during the day. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-16
