An anticyclone brings mainly settled and sunny weather to New Zealand today, just the West Coast of the South Island is a bit cloudier than elsewhere.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with light winds, tending east to northeast in the afternoon for most. Some cloud at times for Northland. There may be a spot of low cloud of fog overnight for some inland areas.
Highs: 18-23
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, light winds tend west to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-21
Eastern North Island
Sunny, a cool start for inland areas away from the coast then warming up in the afternoon especially inland. Afternoon east to northeasterly winds keep temperatures a little cooler about coastal fringes however still a great day.
Highs: 19-23
Wellington
Mostly sunny, some cloud drifting through at times. Increasing north to northwesterly winds.
High: 17
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with afternoon north to northwesterly winds, there may be some morning cloud about the Nelson area then breaking to a sunny afternoon.
Highs: 19-24
Canterbury
Sunny and warm weather with light winds tending northwest for most. Just along coastal fringes there is the chance of a sea breeze in the afternoon which could bring the temperature down a tad, mainly about South Canterbury at this stage.
Highs: 20-24
West Coast
Mostly cloudy, chance of a light shower or two. Light northerlies tend northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-17
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds for most. There may be a coastal sea breeze for Otago in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-23
