Upper North Island

Mostly sunny, some cloud for the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty. There may be an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about eastern Northland and the Coromandel. Winds from the south in the morning then tending southwest in the afternoon, breezy at times. Afternoon high’s in the low to mid twenties.

Lower North Island

In the west expect areas of cloud, thicker towards the ranges with the risk of a shower spreading from the east at times. Further west about Taranaki skies are sunnier, winds from the south or southeast. Wellington sees the risk of a shower this morning then expect mainly cloudy skies with fresh southerlies. Rain along the east coast eases to showers in the afternoon for most although not easing about Gisborne till evening, gusty southerlies ease later in the day. Temperatures in the low twenties out west, mid to high teens in the east.

Upper South Island

In the west and about Nelson expect mostly sunny weather with a touch of high cloud, light winds in the morning then afternoon sea breezes. Marlborough and Canterbury may see some morning cloud then mostly sunny with some high cloud, afternoon easterly winds. Afternoon high’s in the low twenties for most, mid twenties about inland Buller.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, risk of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening for inland areas otherwise mainly dry. Light winds in the morning then afternoon sea breezes. Afternoon temperatures in the high teens or early twenties about coastal areas, inland expect high’s in the mid or even late twenties.
