A weak areas of high pressure covers New Zealand today, a light southerly quarter airflow for the South Island and lower North Island. Winds tend northeast about the upper North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud and a few sunny spells possible, the odd shower about also. Low risk of an isolated heavy fall out west late afternoon / evening. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mainly sunny with southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 15-18

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy, there may be a shower or two about mainly morning. Southerly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, southerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy about Marlborough with light east to southeasterly winds. Nelson is sunny with light winds tending northerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy, a few afternoon sunny spells possible. Light east to southeasterly winds.
High: 13

West Coast

Mainly sunny weather with light winds. Warmest temperatures about inland Buller.
Highs: 16-19

Southland & Otago

Sunny spells with light easterly winds. Coastal Otago is mainly cloudy with cooler temperatures.
Highs: 11-17
