A southerly quarter airflow lies over the country today, most regions see some cloud or precipitation for a time. The West Coast of the South Island gets the sunniest weather.

Northland
Mostly cloudy with showers, west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Auckland

Mostly cloudy with southwesterly winds, a few showers develop this morning more so in the north then clearing early to mid afternoon.
Highs: 19

Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with westerly winds, there may be a shower or two about in the afternoon otherwise dry. Cloud breaks later in the day.

High: 21

Waikato

Mostly cloudy with westerly winds, cloud breaks in the evening
Highs: 19

Central North Island

Cloudy skies then breaking to sunny spells mid to late afternoon, light
westerlies tend southwest by evening.
High: 18

Eastern North Island

Low cloud breaks to sunny areas and high cloud, light winds. Southerlies
develop in the afternoon bringing further periods of cloud, the odd shower about
the Wairarapa mid afternoon then further north in the evening.
Highs: 19-21

Taranaki

Chance of an early shower then clearing, cloud breaks to sunny spells in
the afternoon. Southwesterly winds.
High: 18

Western North Island

The odd shower from morning then clearing by evening, southerly
winds.
High: 19

Wellington

Cloudy with southerlies developing around midday, chance of a shower
otherwise dry.
High: 17

Nelson

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells by midday, northeasterly winds. A few
isolated PM showers possible mainly inland.
Highs: 20-21

Marlborough

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells in the afternoon, light winds at first
then easterly winds develop towards midday. A few isolated PM showers possible
mainly inland
Highs: 19-20

Canterbury

Winds change southerly in the morning bringing a few showers, clearing by
mid afternoon near the coast although a few drizzle patches may hang around for
inland areas till evening.

West Coast

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light southwesterly
winds.
High: 18

Coastal Otago

Morning cloud breaks to afternoon sunny areas, southwesterly winds.
High: 15

Central Otago

Any early light showers clear then sunny spells break through by midday,
southerly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Southland

Cloudy periods and a few sunny spells, southwesterly winds picking up for a
time in the afternoon. There may be a brief shower or two late afternoon /
evening otherwise dry.
High: 15
