An easterly airflow starts to cover much of the country today, many regions are mostly sunny still mainly in the south and west. Expect mostly cloudy skies Auckland northwards with breezy easterlies freshening, a few patchy showers about Northland turn to rain this afternoon.

Northland
Cloudy with a few patchy showers, rain moves in during the afternoon.
Strong easterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Auckland

Mostly cloudy, breezy easterlies may become strong at times from midday.
Late afternoon or evening onwards a few brief showers may start to pass through
otherwise dry conditions continue.
High: 16

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy spells with a drizzle patch or two possible. Easterly winds, fresh
at times midday onwards.
High: 15

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with easterly winds, cloud increases from afternoon then
thickens and lowers by evening at which point there is a risk of drizzle. The
main drizzle risk is northwest of about Lake Taupo through to the Waikato.
Highs: 13-15

Eastern North Island

Cloudy periods with easterly winds, some regions or areas may stay cloudy
all day while others may recieve a spot or two of sun. Morning and evening also
brings the risk of some drizzle.
Highs: 13-14

Taranaki

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, cloud thickens and lowers in the
evening. Easterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, easterly winds.
High: 15

Wellington

Periods of cloud with a few sunny breaks at times, easterly winds.
High: 13

Nelson

Areas of mid and high level cloud, perhaps a few sunny breaks at times too.
Southeasterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough

Mostly cloudy with the odd drizzle patch from afternoon, east to
southeasterly winds.
High: 13

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, some drizzle at times Banks
Peninsula northwards from midday. About South and Mid Canterbury weather is
mostly sunny with high cloud then in the evening cloud thickens and
lowers.
Highs: 11-12

West Coast

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, southeasterly winds.
High: 15

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible, cloud thickens later in the
evening. Northeasterly winds.
High: 11

Central Otago

Mostly sunny weather, a touch of high cloud. Light winds.
Highs: 8-11

Southland

Any morning cloud or fog clears to a mostly sunny day, light winds.
High: 13
