Strong southwesterlies cover the country again today although they will ease a tad. Showers mainly affecting eastern parts of the country, a tad drier out west.

Auckland & Northland
Strong southwesterlies with a risk of gales about exposed western coastal areas in the morning then easing a little in the afternoon. Periods of cloud and a few sunny spells with the chance of a brief shower at times, especially early this morning.

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with brisk southwesterly winds, easing later in the
evening.
High: 14

Waikato & Central North Island

Becoming mostly sunny in the morning, brisk southwesterly winds. Cloud a
little more frequent about the Central Plateau with the odd brief shower about,
with any showers there may be a few light snow flurries to 300m in the morning
then lifting to 800m in the evening.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island

Cloudy periods with brisk to strong southwesterly winds, about Hawkes Bay
and Gisborne the odd shower drifts in from afternoon however they will be quite
coastal. About the Wairarapa expect strong southwesterlies with the odd shower,
showers picking up in the afternoon then easing later in the evening and
clearing overnight.

Western North Island (Wanganui northwards)

Chance of an early shower then expect sunny spells with brisk
southwesterlies, easing later in the day.
High: 13

Western North Island (Wanganui southwards)

Cloudy periods with southwesterly winds, the odd shower possible. Showers
more likely in the afternoon then easing overnight. Cloud breaks
overnight.
Highs: 11-12

Wellington

Cloudy spells with brisk to strong southerly winds, the odd shower
especially in the afternoon then easing overnight.
Highs: 10-11

Nelson

Mostly sunny weather, small risk of a brief shower this morning otherwise
dry. Breezy southwesterlies ease later in the day.
High: 14

Marlborough

Chance of a brief morning shower, sunny spells with breezy southwesterly
winds. Skies becoming clear by evening with SW winds easing.
High: 13

Canterbury

Morning showers (especially near the coast) ease then clear mid afternoon.
Sunny spells then increase with brisk southwesterlies gradually easing.
Highs: 11-12

West Coast

Sunny with south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 11

Coastal Otago

Morning showers ease then clear by midday, sunny spells develop mid to late
afternoon. Strong west to southwest winds ease later in the day.
High: 12

Central Otago

Sunny spells gradually increase during the day, light west to southwest
winds.
Highs: 8-9

Southland

Morning showers ease then clear, remaining fairly cloudy although a few
sunny areas may break through in the afternoon. Brisk westerlies ease later in
the day.
High: 11
