A strong northeasterly airflow covers the country yet again today as a low moves into the Tasman Sea and a high pressure system lies out east of New Zealand in the Pacific Ocean. Expect rain or showers mainly for western parts of the country.
Northland
Rain with strong northeasterlies, a risk of gales about exposed areas especially in the east. Rain may be heavy at times in the east.
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, mainly in the north. Rain moves in late
afternoon or evening. Strong northeasterly winds gale force about exposed
areas.
Occasional showers or drizzle, overnight rain. Brisk to strong
easterlies.

Waikato & Central North Island
Cloudy spells with the chance of a shower, mainly dry about the Central
North Island. Rain moves in overnight about the Waikato. Brisk
northeasterlies.

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, breezy northeasterlies.
Occasional showers, strong northeasterly winds possibly gusting to gale
force at times in coastal areas.
High: 15
Western North Island
Sunny areas and some high cloud, easterly winds. Rain moves in
overnight.
Cloudy periods with the odd shower, breezy northeasterly winds.
Rain with heavy falls at times, brisk to strong northeasterlies.
Periods of rain with strong northeasterly winds.
Thick high cloud, a few brief spells of rain at times (mainly afternoon).
Breezy northeasterlies.
Rain with heavy falls from afternoon then easing overnight. Brisk to strong
northeasterly winds.

Coastal Otago
Mostly cloudy with breezy northeasterlies, a few morning showers pass
through.
Plenty of high cloud with northeasterlies, a few brief spells of rain at
times (mainly in the west).
Plenty of high cloud, a few spots of morning rain clear. Northeasterly
