A ridge brings a settled period of weather over the country today although a northwest airflow builds over the South Island later in the day with showers later on the West Coast.

Cloudy periods at first with the risk of a shower, sunny spells increase from midday. Brisk southwesterlies ease in the evening.

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with southwesterlies easing in the evening.
Highs: 14-15

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds, easing in the evening. Overnight
cloud develops in the west.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light southwesterlies dying out early on, overnight high
cloud.
High: 14-15

Taranaki

Mostly sunny with breezy southwesterlies, easing in the evening. Cloud
thickens overnight.
High: 14

Western North Island

Sunny with light northwesterlies, late evening cloud moves in.
High: 14

Wellington

Sunny with light winds, northerlies increase from afternoon. Overnight
cloud.
High: 12

Nelson

Sunny with light southwesterlies, late high cloud.

Marlborough

Sunny with light winds, late high cloud.

Sunny with
light southwesterlies dying out in the morning, late afternoon or evening high

A few morning sunny spells, becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon with
westerly winds, overnight showers.

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and some high cloud developing from midday. Westerly winds ease
in the morning to light winds PM. Overnight spots of rain possible.

Central Otago

Mostly sunny after a cold start, northwesterly winds. High cloud increases
from midday then spots of rain develop in the west later in the evening. Dry out
east.

Southland

Cloudy periods with breezy northwesterlies, the odd brief spit possible
from midday otherwise mainly dry. Overnight rain with a westerly change.
High: 11
