A ridge lies over the North Island today bringing mainly settled weather although the odd shower may affect areas north of Auckland. For the South Island a front brings rain for the west coast and patchy lighter falls out east, Marlborough and Nelson remain mainly dry however.
Northland
Cloudy periods and the chance of the odd sunny spell this morning, a few showers move in during the afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Periods of cloud and sunny spells at times, northeasterly winds. The odd shower or two,
especially for northern parts of Auckland.
Cloudy to start with the risk of a light shower near the coast, sunny
spells break through in the afternoon. Light northeasterlies. Cloud thickens
again overnight.

Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny spells with light northeasterlies, some morning fog possible. Fog may
return again overnight.

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, some high cloud in the morning clears away.

Western North Island
Sunny spells with light northwesterly winds, winds tend more northeasterly
about northern Taranaki.
Cloudy spells with northerly winds, cloud thicker morning and
evening.
Cloudy periods with light northwesterlies, there may be a few sunny breaks
now and then. Cloud thickens again from evening.
Early cloud breaks to sunny spells and light north to northwesterly winds.
Cloud thickens again from later in the evening.
Cloudy with drizzle patches, parts of South Canterbury may see some rain.
Northern parts of North Canterbury may remain mostly dry or atleast see long dry
spells during the day, light winds.
Cloudy with periods of rain, northeasterly winds.
Cloudy with patchy drizzle, light southerlies tend northeast by midday.
Some rain about northern parts of Otago.
Early drizzle in southern parts of the region clears then a few sunny
spells develop during the afternoon. Further north expect patchy rain for much
of the day. Light winds.
Chance of an early drizzle patch, cloud breaks to sunny spells around
midday, light east to northeast winds.
