Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
HEAVY RAIN FEEDS IN FROM THE NORTH – UPPER SOUTH ISLAND
An occluded front feeds into the upper South Island today within a northerly airflow, some heavy rain may continue to clip western parts of the North Island (Northland and Taranaki).
Check out today’s watches and warnings from Metservice here. You can see the warning map below (on the right) matches up with the rainfall accumulation map (on the left).
FOG THIS MORNING – EASTERN SOUTH ISLAND
Clear skies, light winds, cooling temperatures plus high dew points (moisture laden air) meant fog formed for the eastern South Island last night, especially Canterbury. This will hopefully break or thin out towards midday.
MUGGY FEELING ENDS WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK
The upper North Island has been experiencing high dew points and therefore muggy weather the last few days, and it continues for a while yet.
It’s not till Wednesday next week when a northeasterly airflow changes northwest that humid conditions ease.
