Strong northwesterlies, gale force in some eastern regions ease this evening and overnight. A front bringing heavy rain is moving onto the southwestern corner of the North Island now and will move north through the course of this evening and overnight, it does weaken however.

Bay Of Islands

Sunny with a few clouds about, cloud thickening a little overnight.
Northwesterly winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 17-18

Auckland & Northland

Becoming mostly cloudy this evening about Auckland with breeezy
northwesterly winds, cloud increases later in the evening for Northland. The odd
shower moves in overnight into Auckland and western parts of Northland.

Central North Island, Lake Taupo,
Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas increasing, the odd shower turns to rain about the Central
North Island this evening. Rain about the Waikato later this evening then the
Bay Of Plenty overnight. Northwesterly winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 14-18

Eastern North Island

High cloud with strong gusty northwesterlies, some rain clears the
Wairarapa this evening then heads north into Hawkes Bay later this evening, a
spot or two of rain may fall in Gisborne overnight otherwise conditions are
looking to be fairly dry there. Winds ease overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 16-18

Western North Island

Rain with a few heavy falls, easing this evening and clearing. Brisk
northwesterlies ease overnight.

Tonight’s Low: 14

Wellington

Cloudy periods breaking this evening. Strong northerlies gusting to gale
force at times ease overnight.

Tonight’s Low: 16

Nelson & Kateriteri

Cloudy spells, the odd shower spreading from the west then clearing this
evening. Northwesterlies ease overnight to light winds.

Tonight’s Lows: 13-14

Marlborough

Mainly clear skies with strong gusty northwesterlies easing overnight. The
odd shower spreading from the west in inland areas clearing this evening.

Canterbury

Clear skies with strong gusty northwesterlies, tending a little more westerly
this evening then easing. Light winds overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

West Coast

Showers ease overnight becoming few and far between, gusty westerlies ease
overnight too.

Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Coastal Otago

Showers, some heavy clearing this evening. Brisk westerlies ease
overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Central Otago

Any remaining showers clear this evening, westerly winds.

Tonight’s Low: 8

Southland

Showers with strong westerly winds, showers and winds ease overnight.

Tonight’s Lows: 10-11
