A ridge lies over the North Island tonight bringing mainly settled weather, a few isolated showers about Northland clear this evening. In the South Island expect increasing high cloud for most, especially out east, general areas of cloud increase on the West Coast. A front moves onto the lower South Island just after midnight bringing rain.

Auckland & Northland
Mainly clear skies overnight, perhaps a few clouds about. West to southwest breezes ease later this evening. Easterlies about eastern Northland however, easing later. A few isolated showers about Northland clearing later this evening.

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mainly clear skies overnight, westerlies ease this evening to light winds overnight. Northerlies about the Bay Of Plenty however easing later this evening. There may be some cloud in the west of the Central North Island and Waikato towards dawn.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Mainly clear skies, easterlies ease this evening to light winds. Overnight northwesterlies may pick up about Wairarapa.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Western North Island
Mainly clear skies, some high cloud possible with general areas of cloud towards dawn. Westerlies ease this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-13

Wellington
Some cloud developing this evening, becoming mostly cloudy overnight. Brisk northerlies.Tonight’s Low: 16
NelsonMainly clear skies, northerlies ease this evening. Light winds overnight with some cloud possible towards dawn.

Marlborough
Mainly clear skies with northwesterly breezes easing overnight, winds becoming light.
Tonight’s Low: 14

Canterbury
Some high cloud with mainly clear skies, easterlies near the coast east this evening, winds tend northerly overnight.

West Coast
Cloud increasing for most this evening and overnight with westerly breezes. Rain develops overnight with heavy falls, the odd shower spreading further north by dawn.

Coastal Otago
High cloud with light easterlies tending northerly this evening. Towards dawn tomorrow morning winds change brings southwest with rain.
Tonight’s Lows: 12

Central Otago
Thick high cloud withbrisk westerlies. Later overnight winds change brisk west to southwest bringing rain, possily heavy for a time.
Tonight’s Lows: 10

Southland
Thick high cloud with strong northwesterlies. Just after midnight winds change brisk west to southwest bringing rain, possily heavy for a time.
