A low pressure system in the southern Tasman Sea brings a north to northwesterly airflow over the country tonight. Expect high cloud in the east, showers on the South Islands West Coast and some rain towards dawn or tomorrow morning on the North Islands west coast.

Mostly cloudy with north to northwesterly breezes, chance of a shower
towards dawn tomorrow in the west.

Central North Island, Waikato &
Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with northerly breezes, chance of a shower towards dawn
tomorrow in the west.
Tonight’s Lows: 15-17

Eastern North Island

Areas of high cloud with north to northwest breezes.
Tonight’s Lows: 17-18

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy with northwesterly breezes tending more northerly tonight.
Some rain moves over towards dawn tomorrow morning.
Tonight’s Low: 16

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with brisk northerlies, some rain towards dawn tomorrow
morning.
Tonight’s Low: 16

Nelson

Cloudy with breezy northeasterlies tending northerly overnight with some
rain developing for a time.

Marlborough

High cloud, strong north to northwest winds ease a little later this
evening. A few spots of rain possible overnight in the east, a period of rain
will affect the sounds.

Canterbury

High cloud, clearing overnight. North to northwest breezes. Some rain may
spread into the foothills for a time overnight.

West Coast

Cloudy with showers and northeasterly breezes, some rain overnight heavy
for a time. Towards dawn tomorrow heavy showers and thunderstorms move into
Fiordland and possibly South Westland.

Coastal Otago

Some high cloud with east to northeast breezes tending more northerly
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 14

Central Otago

High cloud with northerly breezes, a few spots of rain possible at times
mainly overnight spreading from the west.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Southland

Cloudy skies, chance of a shower at times otherwise mainly dry. Sea breezes
give way to northerlies overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 12
