High pressure covers much of the country overnight bringing settled but cloudy weather for some. Daytime heating however has produced some weakness about the upper South Island and inland North Island regions this afternoon which has resulted in heavy showers, they will gradually clear as the evening wears on. 

Northland
Mainly clear skies with east to southeast breezes. Some cloud is possible towards dawn in the east.

Auckland
Mainly clear skies with sea breezes easing. Isolated showers in the south (some heavy) clearing later.
Tonight’s Low: 16

Waikato
Cloudy periods about southern Waikato. Showers, some heavy with possible thunderstorms clearing later this evening. Clearer skies to start for nothern Waikato this evening however a few isolated showers spread from the south bringing a few heavy falls. Showers then clear later.

Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy periods about eastern Bay Of Plenty break up overnight, clearer skies for western Bay Of Plenty but there may be some cloud there for a time this evening. Inland, isolated showers some heavy clear this evening. Winds generally light with sea breezes near the coast easing later.

Central North Island
Cloudy about the Central North Island, showers about some heavy with possibly thunderstorms clearing later this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Eastern North Island
Mainly clear skies for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne with east to northeast winds easing later this evening. Some cloud inland with isolated showers clearing. Cloudy areas about the Wairarapa with the risk of some drizzle, winds tend more east to southeast there.

Western North Island
Mainly clear skies with sea breezes easing, isolated showers (some heavy) about inland Taranaki and inland Manawatu clear this evening.

Wellington
Clear spells, cloudy periods at times too. Southerly breezes ease overnight.

Nelson
Clear spells with northeast breezes. Isolated showers, some heavy inland clear this evening.

Marlborough
Cloudy areas with east to northeast breezes, chance of some drizzle overnight near the coast. Isolated showers inland clear this evening.

Canterbury
Fairly cloudy with east to northeast breezes, some drizzle possible overnight.

West Coast
Mainly clear skies with sea breezes easing away this evening, any isolated showers about Buller clearing.

Cloudy areas with east to northeast breezes easing later this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Central Otago
Mainly clear skies with south to southwest breezes easing later this evening. Some high cloud possible.

Cloudy areas and a few clear spells too, cloud thickens up by dawn however. Southwesterlies ease this evening.
