First weekend of Winter: Unsettled

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The first full weekend of winter is this weekend and the forecast, despite high pressure around the country, doesn’t look overly flash for a number of regions.

Plenty of cloud is expected across the country, particularly on Sunday, as an area of rain in the Tasman and northern areas moves in.

On Sunday a southerly change moves up the South Island then the North Island into Sunday and Monday. For example, in Hawkes Bay highs in the late teens this weekend will make way for a high of 12 on Monday.

Most places will have a period of rain or showers this weekend – however driest and warmest places at this stage look to be across the eastern North Island with fairly dry weather for the southern South Island too.
