First glimpse of autumn: Weather risks for Monday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The beginning of the first week of autumn, and we will hopefully start to see some distinctly autumnal weather – meaning showers – this week.

The first to get a taste of the new season will be Southland, Otago and the West Coast, after a large rainmaking system approaches and makes landfall in the South Island.
Showers on the West Coast should spill over into the mainland, with Queenstown and Alexandra both looking wet today.

Other than that, the ominous looking rain system won’t bring too much in the way of drought-ending rain, but it will stick around for a day or so, further up the island – so watch this space!
