Three fire crews and three helicopters with monsoon buckets are still battling a fire in the Far North.
It started at Matai Bay on the Karikari peninsula about 10 last night, and had burned about 10 hectares until fire crews brought it under control this morning.
It’s no longer threatening homes or the nearby DOC campground.
A Fire Service spokeswoman said while the fire is not contained, crews are on top of it.
It’s not clear yet what caused the blaze.
