Fiji gets slammed by Cyclone Mick

Fiji is currently being hammered by a Category 2 cyclone named Mick and overnight and into Tuesday morning the storm is expected to pass very near to Suva.

Winds are averaging 110km/h with gusts to 150km/h.  Mick will pass directly over Fiji tonight and into Tuesday morning NZT.

 

The Fiji Meteorological Service predicts destructive winds to arrive overnight on the mainland.

Squally thunderstorms are forecast with flooding as well as sea flooding in low lying coastal areas.

Very high seas are also in the forecast.
