Extreme temperature drop moving up NZ

The temperature in Oamaru hit 30 degrees at 12noon today and in just half an hour it had fallen dramatically to only 12 as a cold sou’west change moved through.

Soon it will be Christchurch’s turn.

At 11am Dunedin had reached the late 20s then quickly fell to the low teens.

The hot air continues to remain from mid Canterbury northwards.  As of 1:30pm it was 29 in Timaru and 26 in Christchurch. 

In the North Island Hastings has 27 and Napier and Gisborne have 25.

The strongest wind gust was 150km/h at Castlepoint.

Our outside thermometer in the shade is showing 28.4C

…just reached 29.5deg C with a light NNE, as the middle/ high cloud cover temporarily (?)thinned out to give us some moderate sunshine ! 8 – D
