Ex-Tropical Cyclone Cody tracking past north eastern NZ, dangerous beach conditions

> From the WeatherWatch archives

With the weather sunny over many parts of New Zealand you’d be forgiven for thinking a storm was just offshore, however what was Tropical Cyclone Cody is now moving into the NZ area.

Most impacted will be East Cape and Gisborne, however eastern beaches will be churned up from Northland to Coromandel and Bay of Plenty, then East Cape down to Wairarapa. Even Canterbury may be impacted.

The storm will be closest to NZ (offshore from Gisborne) during Monday, then starts to pull away from NZ on Tuesday.
