Easter travel forecast: Road, Sea, Air

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Many people will today head off for a long weekend at their favourite holiday destination and WeatherWatch.co.nz has checked the forecast if you’re flying, driving or going by sea.

These are the travel conditions for today/this evening (Thursday).

By Road
Conditions for driving across New Zealand look excellent with dry roads expected almost everywhere.  Rain will affect roads around Southland and Otago and there’s the risk of a brief shower about Northland’s east coast.

By Air
A large high over New Zealand means light winds are in store for much of the country so flights should be relatively smooth.  Wellington will have a fairly breezy northerly but nothing planes can’t easily contend with.  Turbulence may be a little rougher over the lower South Island but WeatherWatch.co.nz rates it as “light to moderate”.

By Sea  (MetService forecast)
Northerly 15 knots, rising to 20 knots gusting 30 knots at times in the afternoon and evening. Sea slight, becoming moderate at times in the afternoon and evening. Fine.
