Dunedin heads back to winter

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Poor Dunedinites.  While much of the country has been enjoying hot weather lately Dunedin has slipped back into winter it seems.

Off and on for the past week the South Island’s second largest city has seen some miserable weather conditions.

Today a strong southerly is blowing with showers in the area.  As of 3:30pm it was just 13 degrees.

Yesterday Dunedin’s high was only 13 degrees, the airport made it to just 12.

It was a little warmer on Thursday and Friday with temperatures between 18 and 20 degrees but on both Wednesday and Monday the city made it to just 15 degrees.

WeatherWatch.co.nz’s Twitter page has had a number of followers commenting on the current conditions.   Kent Irving told @WeatherWatchNZ earlier this afternoon “11, overcast and strong sou’wester here in Dunners”.

Yesterday Paul Le Comte said “summer – bah! We’re like continuous mid winter down here in Dunedin. Very low cloud, constant drizzle, light winds but cold… we’re having a roast for dinner due to winter outside”.
