Dry and windy for Northland

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Some parts of Northland have had their first significant rainfall in months as a system bringing moist sub-tropical air passed over the region across the long weekend, however conditions are set to dry out again this week.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says unfortunately for Northland farmers the recent rain was an “isolated incident”.

The weather site predicts at least 10 more mainly dry, windy, days for the region with easterlies especially strong in the Far North.

However there may be some positive news further in to February.  WeatherWatch says the tropics are becoming increasingly active and a repeat of the weekends weather is not out of the question.

High pressure systems have also shifted places from the far north to the far south of New Zealand – making Northland and Auckland more vulnerable to lows coming from the sub-tropics.
