Daily Debrief – WEDNESDAY

WeatherWatch.co.nz

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A very cold day in the south after overnight rain, hail and snow worked its way over many parts of the mainland. Ahead of the chilly air, mild northerlies blew across eastern parts of the North Island.

Frosty conditions are possible in a few inland South Island areas tonight but in the main, tonight and tomorrow is generally very cool over the country with a southerly airflow enveloping the nation, bringing showery conditions in many cases, for a period of time.

More snow is likely to fall again over South Island alpine passes tonight and then tomorrow, the central North Island may see a dusting.

The place to be tomorrow is Nelson and the west of the South Island with lovely autumnal sunshine expected.

The highest temperature today was a warm 24 in Gisborne and Lake Rotoiti had the low of only 7 degrees.
