Generally it was a cool to cold day in many eastern and southern areas and tonight, temperatures are expected to be near freezing, as cloud begins to lift or clear skies prevail in central and southern areas of the country.
Frosty conditions may greet a few folk tomorrow morning but a sunny Thursday is expected to follow over a majority of the country except for parts of Northland, Gisborne and Hawkes Bay which may see some cloud with the chance of a shower.
Top temperature today went to Kaitaia again with 23 and the low of 12 was in Darfield, Molesworth and Waiouru.
