Some very warm temperatures were recorded in a few South Island areas today as northerlies blew strongly at times.Rain fell in the west and nor’ west arch cloud was visible in some eastern areas.
The North Island was mosty dry and mild as the ridge of high pressure started to lose its grip and continued heading east.
Tonight and tomorrow the warm spell continues with temperatures above average, especially in eastern regions.
28 degrees was recorded in Alexandra and was the national high with Timaru close behind on 27. The low was 15 at Lake Rotoiti.
