Temperatures remained above average for the second day running in many areas as a northerly covered the country. Cloud thickened over quite a few regions and heavy rain fell at times in the southwest of the country.

Tonight it should generally remain mild and tomorrow, further heavy rain should persist in parts of Westland and Fiordland with possibly a few brief falls spilling east over the ranges.

The high today was 26 in Alexandra and Waiouru and Haast had the national low of 16.
