SPECIAL 6:30pm UPDATE
Not too often the temperatures continue to rise after we issue the Daily Debrief – in fact, today is the first time that’s happened!
Christchurch, originally capped at 28 degrees jumped to 30 after 5pm. It’s now dropped a little to 29.
Todays highest temperature was 32 at Ashburton, Alexandra.
Todays lowest maximum temperature was 15 at Hokitika.

Imagine if Auckland reached 30C.It would be front page news plus would people cope up here with the heat?Been nice and sunny though,Unfortunately back to Garbage next week with South Westerlies.

weather station in rolleston today recorded 33.5 degrees celcius today for most of the afternoon
