Daily Debrief – Good Friday

WeatherWatch.co.nz

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Considering the cold snap that hit the country yesterday, today was a relatively mild day after a frosty start for many.

A few showers trapped within the anticyclonic gloom affected western areas from Taranaki to Auckland but nothing substantial.

The North Island had the warmest and coldest centres today.  Today’s highest temperature was 21 at Kaitaia.  Today’s lowest maximum temperature was 10 at Waiouru.

Tonight will be another cold one with single digits almost everywhere, many around the freezing mark.  Click “Read More” for temps in your town.

Were the 25 knot gusts forecasted in Auckland today this afternoon?

WW Forecast Team on 10/04/2009 7:56am

We expected breezy winds… the high perhaps wasn’t anchored over us as much as possible, but Saturday should be calmer.  I think most parts of Auckland had pretty lightr winds today.

A beautiful day in Whangarei from beginning to end, warm and sunny all day with some cloud arriving late afternoon, could not have been better for a start to the Easter Weekend.
Neither did we get any Anticyclonic gloom that your report mention for Auckland down to Taranaki so that must be one up for us as we are very prone to Anticyclonic gloom.

My weather station hit 21 deg by lunchtime giving us a very summery type day. Hope the rest of the weekend is similar.

Happy Holiday to everyone.

HI Derek, Whangarei is more prone to the gloom when you have an easterly…a sou’wester should mean another sunny day tomorrow.  The gloom will affect the west coast though.

Happy Easter to you too!

Cheers

Philip Duncan
