The heat wave that we mentioned yesterday certainly arrived today. A number of places in the South Island made it into the lower and mid 30s thanks to a hot northerly wind ahead of a cold front. That cold front brought much cooler weather to the West Coast.
The North Island was certainly comfortable today with most places in the mid 20s with relatively low humidity.
MetService has issued a number of rain warnings for the West Coast as that front slowly moves northward.
Today’s highest temperature was 36 at Culverden.
Today’s lowest maximum temperature was 18 at Milford Sound.

I thought Culverden would clench the country’s today’s maximum especially when it was the country’s low of 16C on Wednesday. funny that ?
