Coromandel remains isolated

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Floods have effectively cut off the town of Coromandel this morning.

A slip has closed State Highway 25 between Coromandel and Kauotunu.

Floodwaters have also closed the road between Whitianga and Coroglen. The road also flooded, between Tapu and Coromandel.

It IS possible to get into Coromandel Town. All flooding on roads on the Thames Coast has subsided (and did so some time ago!) There are quite a few slips around the Peninsula though. There’s a major slip at the top of the Whangapoua Hill (mentoined in the article) and another at Simpsons Beach north of Whitianga. Listeners to Coromandel FM have informed us that there is no flooding between Whitianga and Coroglen anymore either. In fact, no roads flooded anywhere! Those slips are the only concern.

Great news and good to hear roads have reopened.
