Cooling down – #WeatherRisks for Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There’s showers and low temperatures in today’s forecast for different parts of the country – along with overnight snow to fairly low levels in Southland and Otago – so the day is kicking off pretty chilly there!

We still have a strong west to southwesterly airflow over New Zealand, while a cool front starts to move northwards over the South Island during the day.
This isn’t a big rain bearing front, but it will be cold and windy.

Showers should manly affect the west of NZ, although a southwesterly wind change moving up near coastal Otago and then coastal Canterbury later in the day should bring a few showers with it.
