Weather conditions across Canterbury are improving this afternoon and the next few days look fairly good for clean up operations.
Some rain fell overnight but the low responsible is already moving away from the South Island and out into the Pacific Ocean.
Winds will this afternoon tilt more west to north west and strengthen – meaning a much warmer night is on the way tonight and warmer weather likely tomorrow. WeatherWatch.co.nz says highs into the low 20s are expected inland and up to the late teens about the coast.
A few spits of rain are possible on Sunday as a front moves past but it’s unlikely to cause any real problems.
Next Wednesday and Thursday a potential Tasman Sea low may see strong to gale force winds returning.
