Concerns ease down south

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Lake levels seem to have peaked for now as the ‘worst’ of the situation in Queenstown, Glenorchy and Kingston appears to be over.

Lessons seem to have been learnt since the disastrous floods of 1999 and preparation and support was vital in keeping the might of the Wakatipu at bay.

A dry spell period is likely today and tomorrow but a brief period of rain is possible on Monday, as a front bears down on the region.

It will take a number of days for the lake to slowly recede and return to somewhat normal levels.
