Combination front and low – Situation & outlook for Saturday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

On Saturday we have an exciting weather situation – with plenty going on both north and south!

A low and front combination will move over the North Island, while a ridge builds over the South Island, meaning the North Island’s weather will be a bit unsettled – as expected.
There may well be thunderstorms in the morning and into the afternoon for some areas north of the Waikato.

In the South Island, the weather is sunny on the West Coast from morning, while a few showers will clear from the east, and cloud breaks during the afternoon and into evening.
Southerly quarter winds ease, and tend easterly in the afternoon or evening.
