Christchurch is tonight in for another cold night with conditions getting almost near frost levels predicts WeatherWatch.co.nz.
Temperatures plummeted New Zealand-wide last night after a cold southerly change came through.
Tonight winds will ease and clouds will clear Canterbury with the mercury expected to fall into the low single digits with WeatherWatch.co.nz predicting the coldest night so far this year for the Garden City with a low of just 3 or 4 degrees.
However both daytime highs and overnight lows will creep back up from Tuesday onwards – a trend that will be commonplace across the entire country as a high moves in, killing off the southerlies.
It’s currently just 13 degrees with a cool, fresh, southerly and a few isolated showers, which are now clearing. Winds will ease this evening.
