Christchurch hit by freak hailstorm

> From the WeatherWatch archives

 “A spectacular light show”

That’s how one Cantab described tonight’s thunderstorms as they rumbled through Christchurch early this evening.

Heavy rain and marble sized hail were reported with these storms.  As well as some brilliant lightning.

Additional thunderstorms are possible tonight, especially before 10pm.
