Chillier start this morning

> From the WeatherWatch archives

72 hours ago many of these centres were in the mid-teens at sunruse but as predicted by WeatherWatch.co.nz a week ago a cold snap over Sunday to Tuesday is this morning being felt with heavy frosts for some areas.

Canterbury, Otago, Southland and Wellington are some of the coldest areas as of 7am.

Christchurch had -2 while Dunedin and Wellington were hovering around the frost mark in many suburbs.

Auckland isn’t so cold due to showers this morning, although it’s still several degrees cooler than at sunrise on Saturday morning.

Despite the cold morning a light nor’wester means places like Dunedin and Christchurch  will warm up to the mid teens.

Milder weather returns to many areas over Wednesday and Thursday, but in the deep south on Thursday the rain returns ahead of a short, sharp, wintry burst of air on Friday that will see snow fall to low levels.

But the snow levels quickly rise by Saturday ahead of more windy weather from the west.
