Changeable skies improving

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Not everyone has seen the cloud, rain and thunder over the last 24 hours but today skies are clearing for many of us however there are still a few exceptions.

The far north and east of the North Island could still see a few sprinkles today but these conditions are expected to improve.
Northland and Auckland have been waiting for some good and solid rainfall for some weeks, if not months now and although there have been some sporadic falls in the last 24-48 hours, the near future appears to be relatively dry unfortunately.

A few coastal showers are possible in the east and south of the mainland today but they should be few and far between as the sun is expected to return but temperatures are still likely to be on the cool side.

Temperatures tonight are expected to be cooler than normal for this time of year for much of the country with a few frosts possible in the far south.
